High Performance Carburisers
Coconut Shell Charcoal has advantage of zero Sulphur, but the high moisture in it combines with Mg and Makes MgO. High VM and Ash also generates slag and increases rejection.
As a better techno commercial solution for carburising, leading S.G. Iron Foundries have switched over to CARBUKAST -1 and CARBUKAST-SUPER carburisers from Coconut Shell Charcoal.

Some foundries mix CarbuKast-1 and CarbuKast-Super to get the maximum advantages of lower % S and to get optimum recovery along with the cost benefits.
Advantages of CarbuKast:
Apart from direct cost benefits, CarbuKast has following advantages:

Recommendation for Addition:
- CarbuKast should be added when the metal level in the furnace is between 30-70% for best recovery.
- Total Addition of CarbuKast should be divided in 3-4 parts and should be sandwiched between the additions of steel scrap.
- For better recovery, CarbuKast should be added along with steel scrap and not with pig iron or returns.
- CarbuKast should not be added at the bottom of the furnace or on top of the liquid metal.
